Notes! Disappeared!

Hoping someone more computer savvy can be of assistance.

I opened my notes on my Macbook and they are all gone. I opened them on my iPhone - gone.

My Macbook is El Capitan V 10.11.6

Can anybody help me figure how to bring them back? I'm guessing the cloud got them? I have no clue, BUT I am guessing they might not actually be deleted, just... somewhere else.

Please help!
